Breaking into the electrical contracting world can be challenging even for the most qualified of candidates. After 95 years in business, we know what it takes to get the job done and we are passing that knowledge on to other minority-and women-owned (M/WBE) businesses just starting out in the New York market. Turtle & Hughes is a mentor in MTA Small Business Mentoring Program (SBMP). We advise small M/WBE electrical contracting firms on small- to mid-size transit system projects, helping them to save money and avoid costly mistakes. We provide technical services, engineering expertise and equipment for the scheduling, design and installation of fiber and copper communications projects.
WE OPEN DOORS
For one MBE contractor from the Bronx, NY, our support has put them ahead of schedule when it comes to moving up the SBMP program ranks. F.W. Clarke Electrical has become the first electrical contractor to be promoted from Tier 1 MTA projects (less than $1 million) to Tier 2 MTA projects ($1-3 million), even though they were relative late comers to the program. Our collaboration includes the furnishing and installation of Help Point communications and security devices and associated data access devices at two stations on the Flushing Line in Queens, NY.
