MRO PROCUREMENT OUTSOURCING

Turtle & Hughes Integrated Supply (THIS) onsite buyers along with a centralized buying group provide customers with multiple services related to MRO procurement. These areas include stock inventory replenishment, non-stock “Spot Buy” ordering, and repair/warranty management while maintaining an uninterrupted supply of materials to the client facility. THIS onsite buyers and staff also provide reliable and cost effective in-house support to our clients on large-scale construction and capital expense projects. Alternatives include centralized purchasing, whereby THIS buyers are either grouped to a single client location while maintaining the purchasing function for multiple client sites (ex: "hub & spoke"), or purchasing centralized to our internal buying group. Last, eProcurement solutions, such as Punchout and an online catalog, can be implemented where the spend and potential savings do not support onsite resources.

We are a procurement outsourcing company and a key differentiator is our ability to understand and execute a strategic procurement program. In order to achieve our aggressive savings goals in the initial years of an agreement, THIS relies on the professional planning and execution of our own strategic procurement process. Our strategic sourcing team develops a sourcing plan designed for every client that contributes to savings year after year. Through our process, the top ten spend categories are prioritized and then strategies are set based on our analysis of the market trends for each. We review spend compliance, adherence to standards, supplier concentration, and Producer Price Indices. Primary strategies are:

  • Supplier Harmonization (sourcing to our existing collaborative deals)
  • Private Sourcing (customized sourcing for one customer or site)
  • Collaborative Sourcing (sourcing for multiple customers within one commodity)

Working with 3M, Turtle & Hughes developed a template for a durable film that provided a consistent and durable protective surface, as well as reduced application time and cost, resulting in $39,500 in annual customer savings.

    SHEDDING LIGHT ON CANCER RESEARCH

    When a new 21-story research center was being constructed in New York City, Turtle & Hughes Lighting department put together one of its most complex packages ever. This included custom-designed lab bench lighting fixtures that work in conjunction with a daylight harvesting system and a shade control system. The system prevents light pollution at night, creating a controlled environment to conduct research so scientists could achieve a better understanding of the disease and how to manage it.
