Tasked with upgrading Macy’s retail lighting to reduce energy costs, Turtle & Hughes has worked together with Philips Lighting to improve energy efficiency throughout nearly 50 locations in New York and New Jersey. As a result, Macy’s has seen a 35 percent reduction in electric consumption since 2002.
When a new 21-story research center was being constructed in New York City, Turtle & Hughes Lighting department put together one of its most complex packages ever. This included custom-designed lab bench lighting fixtures that work in conjunction with a daylight harvesting system and a shade control system. The system prevents light pollution at night, creating a controlled environment to conduct research so scientists could achieve a better understanding of the disease and how to manage it.
The tragic attacks of September 11, 2001 rocked our nation to its core, resulting in an unprecedented level of heartbreak and destruction. Turtle & Hughes had the honor of playing a key role in the rebuilding, providing expertise in power distribution management to Towers One and Four and the World Trade Center Chiller Plant, as well as power distribution and ventilation smoke exhaust systems to the Transportation Hub, and lighting in 14 floors of offices in Tower Four.
