The phrase “only in New York” applies to construction as much as anything else. Case in point is the city's Electrical Advisory Board, a 17-member panel that meets once a month to sign off on big electrical projects. We are a NYC electrical construction consultant and our engineers make sure that all of your equipment will have the proper clearances for the spaces in which they are installed for the voltages involved, that maintenance personnel and other workers will have enough room to get out in a hurry if required, and all the other factors that are needed for project approval by the Electrical Advisory Board. Since the board only meets once a month, getting this right the first time is vital to keeping your New York-based project on track.

ENSURING COMPLIANCE IN NYC
TTurtle & Hughes has 30 years of experience working with New York City's Electrical Advisory Board and can bring that expertise to bear on getting your major projects approved. We know what the board needs in order to sign off on your job and can advise you of any potential snags before your design gets in front of the board.
Review of your project with board requirements in mind can save you a month-long wait for the next meeting to approve a revised project design.
Decades of experience with the board allows us to deliver what the board wants and how it wants to streamline approval for your job.
SHEDDING LIGHT ON CANCER RESEARCH
When a new 21-story research center was being constructed in New York City, Turtle & Hughes Lighting department put together one of its most complex packages ever. This included custom-designed lab bench lighting fixtures that work in conjunction with a daylight harvesting system and a shade control system. The system prevents light pollution at night, creating a controlled environment to conduct research so scientists could achieve a better understanding of the disease and how to manage it.
Hudson Yards is the largest development in New York City in almost 100 years; a self-contained neighborhood with residential, office and commercial buildings, shops, restaurants, a creative hub, parks, playgrounds and a school. Two cogeneration plants — with switchgear from Turtle & Hughes — form a smart microgrid, which is designed to keep the complex running, even in the event a power outage.
When it opened in 2013, the Catskill-Delaware Ultraviolet Disinfection facility became the world’s largest UV water treatment facility, covering two billion gallons of drinking water and adding a layer of protection for more than nine million New York residents. Turtle & Hughes consulted on the project prior to construction, provided project management and equipment during the construction, and continues to offer technical support today.
